In 2026,Shanghai Jiao Tong University will celebrate its 130th anniversary.
Since the launch of the emblem design solicitation,faculty,students,medical staff,alumni at home and abroad,as well as people from all walks of life who care about and support the University’s development,have responded enthusiastically.

Nearly two hundred emblem design submissions drew inspiration from Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s rich history,cultural heritage,spirit of continuity,founding journey,and iconic architecture.
After review and selection,six emblem designs have advanced to the exhibition stage.
The voting results from this exhibition will serve as an important reference for determining the final version.

設計創(chuàng)意源自南洋公學牌坊校門，從歷史地標中汲取力量，將標志性的牌坊結構創(chuàng)新巧妙地與數字“130”融為一體，講述交通大學肇啟南洋、因圖強而生的百卅歷程。
The design draws inspiration from the Paifang gate of Nanyang Public School,tapping into the strength of this historic landmark.By creatively integrating the iconic archway structure with the number“130,”it tells the story of Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s origins in Nanyang and its 130-year journey of striving for national rejuvenation.

取用校門蘊含學校面向未來開放創(chuàng)新的發(fā)展態(tài)勢，飛檐、石柱、門洞、瓦楞等南洋公學校門的經典元素被巧妙重構，賦予“130”深厚的歷史分量。整體造型以傳統(tǒng)建筑的靈動與飛揚，蘊含昂揚向上的動感，寓意學校在厚重歷史底蘊基礎上蓬勃發(fā)展。
Drawing on the symbolism of the University gate,the design reflects SJTU’s forward-looking spirit of openness and innovation.Classic elements of the Nanyang Public School gate—such as the upturned eaves,stone pillars,archway,and tiled ridges—are skillfully reinterpreted and woven into the number“130,”lending it profound historical weight.The overall form,inspired by the grace and vitality of traditional architecture,conveys a sense of upward momentum,symbolizing the University’s vigorous growth upon its rich historical foundation.

方案考慮以往的學校標志性建筑設計元素，提取徐匯校區(qū)華山路校門樣式，融合學校歷年標識的主要特征，將“1896”與“2026”兩組年份數字轉化為建筑中的核心構件—梁與柱，寓意一代代交大人接續(xù)奮斗、傳承中再出發(fā)。
This design draws on iconic architectural elements from the University’s past,incorporating the style of the Huashan Road gate on the Xuhui campus and integrating key features from the University’s emblems over the years.The years“1896”and“2026”are transformed into the core structural components of traditional architecture—the beams and pillars—symbolizing the continuous efforts and renewed journey of generations of SJTUers in carrying forward the University’s legacy.

華山路校門意象廣為社會所熟知，也寓意今日交大“近悅遠來”的開放氣象，下方弧線則代表學校放眼全球的廣闊辦學視野。
The imagery of the Huashan Road gate is widely recognized by society and symbolizes today’s SJTU as an open institution that attracts both those nearby and those from afar.The curved line below represents the University’s broad,global vision in education.

臺階式布局，表達學校過去所創(chuàng)造的無數個第“1”的成就，“3”采用螺旋上升立體設計，體現(xiàn)跨越三世紀的厚重歷史，“0”的齒輪取自?；?，寓意當下的交叉融合深度研究及未來持續(xù)探索“零的突破”。
The tiered layout symbolizes the countless“firsts”the University has achieved in the past.The“3”adopts a spiraling,upward three-dimensional design,reflecting the weight of a history spanning three centuries.The gear in the“0,”drawn from the University emblem,signifies today’s interdisciplinary and in-depth research as well as the ongoing pursuit of future breakthroughs from zero.

中間的數字“3”與漢字“交”字疊加，將數字與漢字合二為一，也同時傳達天地交通與三生萬物的磅礴文化意向。
The central number“3”is overlaid with the Chinese character“交,”merging numeral and character into one.This combination also conveys the grand cultural connotations of“the interaction between heaven and earth”and“the generative power of three giving rise to all things.”

主體圖形從1933年交通大學年刊題詞“交”字為原型出發(fā)，將“交”字筆畫解構重組，左側字形簡化為“130”的視覺形態(tài)，既體現(xiàn)漢字書法氣韻，又傳遞建校130年的關鍵信息。右上點畫恰似寓意“飲水思源”的水滴，暗含交大校訓。
The main graphic takes inspiration from the character“交”as inscribed in the 1933 Jiao Tong University Yearbook.Its strokes are deconstructed and restructured,with the left side simplified into the visual form of“130,”embodying both the charm of Chinese calligraphy and the key message of the University’s 130th anniversary.The upper-right dot resembles a droplet of water,symbolizing the idea of“drinking water while remembering its source,”a subtle reference to SJTU’s motto.

At the base,the Chinese and English names of the University together with the years“1896–2026”create a solid visual foundation.The overall calligraphic form evokes the image of a“running figure,”blending a sense of tradition with dynamism.This symbolizes both the profound history of SJTU across 130 years and its forward-looking journey of progress.

以閔行校區(qū)東大門為基礎，巧妙融合科學與人文意象。視覺中央，由精密點陣構成的橫線如一級級求知階梯，象征交大百卅年來在科研與學術之路上穩(wěn)步攀登、厚積薄發(fā)的歷程。每一“步”皆代表一代代交大人穿越時光的智慧沉淀，穩(wěn)健向上。
Based on the East Gate of the Minhang Campus,the design skillfully integrates both scientific and humanistic imagery.At the visual center,a horizontal line composed of precise dot matrices resembles a series of steps of knowledge,symbolizing SJTU’s steady ascent and accumulated strength in scientific research and scholarship over the past 130 years.Each“step”represents the wisdom and contributions of successive generations of SJTUers,moving upward with stability and resilience.

Shaped as flowing“130 water ripples”converging into the image of the University gate,the design condenses SJTU’s most recognizable visual symbol while profoundly echoing the spirit of the motto“When drinking water,remember its source.”The rippling waves symbolize knowledge flowing like living water and spirit enduring like a clear spring,uniting the strength of the past and present to open a more glorious future for SJTU.

交大地標，歲月見證。整體圖形以徐匯校區(qū)圖書館為原型，徐匯校區(qū)圖書館為學校20周年校慶時由1916屆畢業(yè)生發(fā)起籌建，見證交通大學百年發(fā)展歷程，近年來更已成為學校地標建筑。
SJTU Landmark,Witness of Time The overall design takes the Xuhui Campus Library as its prototype.Initiated in 1916 by alumni to commemorate the University’s 20th anniversary,the library has borne witness to over a century of SJTU’s development and,in recent years,has become one of the University’s most iconic landmarks.

百卅歷程，創(chuàng)新發(fā)展。百卅字樣與當下廣泛應用的二維碼結合，形成歷史與科技的對話，也寓意交大的蓬勃生機，彰顯百卅交大的使命擔當。
130 Years of Innovation and Development
The“130”design is combined with the widely used QR code,creating a dialogue between history and technology.It also symbolizes the vitality of SJTU and highlights the University’s sense of mission and responsibility as it celebrates its 130th anniversary.
